Our country is rugged country. Impassable gullies. Extreme winds. Skies that open up and pour down. It’s a place made for men and women who are connected to the land. You’re at work in any weather, and the worse the weather, the more work there is to do. Since 1952 we’ve been creating gear that works as hard as you do. Fabricated using the best materials and technologies, cut and sewn by experts to exacting standards, we create high performance garments that keep you outside for longer. A family business through and through, we’re driven by the desire to help New Zealand’s outsiders – the farmers, the fishers, the sailors, the hunters, the workers and the adventurers.
Betacraft was founded by a man with an inventive spirit and a singular goal: to keep New Zealand farmers warm, dry and comfortable. Born in 1914, David Beatson became acutely aware of the demands of outdoor life when serving in World War II. Arriving home, he traded his city job for the rural life. With an entrepreneurial spirit he started a business out of his Palmerston North garage, supplying and repairing horse and cow covers. His craft eventually turned to outdoor workwear. With a ready supply of customers at the backdoor, David honed his skill and developed a reputation for garments that were robust, durable and unfailingly waterproof. Now into its fourth generation, Betacraft remains a family business committed to producing professional grade, long lasting gear that can withstand even the most extreme outdoor conditions.
